Hi "Docs"

I hope that someone can put my mind at rest and tell me that I am just being paranoid.

I have 4 glowlight tetras and they have "acquired" vertical stripes on the body. I would say they look like the stripes of a tabby cat or a tiger.

They are eating normally and swimming around which makes close inspection or a photo virtually impossible.

Has anyone come across this before, or have they always looked like this and I have just never noticed.

Could it be cause I have added my plants so the light bounces off them differently. Are they just changing skin or dont fish do that :S.

My water stats today are below which I think are all pretty normal

pH 7.2
KH 6
GH 14
NO2 0
NO3 50
Amonia 0

Please help, I really dont want my fish to be poorly. I also have 3 guppies and 5 platies in the tank which all seem fine.

Thanks :)

Post in the right part of the forum it could just be markings. I kept glo lights but can't remember now if they had stripes like a tabby cat lol.

LOL when someone else says it I suppose it does sound a little funny, will move the post too though, thanks

It could just be markings and nothing to worry about.
Are they acting like there normal selves.
What your tap nitrate reading as wondering if you can get your nitrate reading any lower.

Just want to make sure the markings are black.

LOL. Just wanted to check as you never know.
Have you posted in the right section of the forum yet.

lol yeah I know I was just yanking ya chain.

Sometimes things can get a bit heated in fish forums, just wanted to make sure my conversations dont go that way.

Yeah I also put it in the cypranids, chacophony section.... sorry couldnt remember how to spell the technical species types. but no one has answered yet, maybe they think I am off my trolley too! :S

LOL.
I couldn't spell the section of the forum either.

Just in case there is someone else out there as dumb as me, thought i ought to update you....

Went to my LFS at the weekend to ask about my "glowlight tetra" and to buy some more fish, but as per usual it was heaving so thought I would compare my fish to the ones in the LFS and discovered that mine were nothing like it.

I looked in a few more tanks and all of a sudden I found my fish "glowlight danios". I remember when I bought them nearly a year ago I all remembered was the word glow light and because the tank they were in intially was only a 5 gallon with no light there colouring wasnt that enhanced.

But obviously since I have moved them to a 36 gallon with proper lighting, I can clearly saw (after my trip to the LFS) that they werent tetras.

Silly me

LOl. No wonder nobody knew the answer lol.
Glad you found out what they were.

LOL I laughed all day about that one.

What I wanna know is why didnt any "experts" pick up on my deliberate mistake. They do sort of look a little similar, maybe, perhaps, ok.... not at all :)

Do you mean on the forum.
