Hi everyone,
Got a tank about 3 weeks ago after a 17 year layoff !. I forgot how cool Aquariums are. Got a good deal on a second hand setup, a Hagen 800 duo, anyway everything is fine with the fish, Nitrite etc. are fine. Now I have started to slowly stock the tank I have noticed a few fish near the surface gasping air so I have opened the venturi on my Fluval3 internal filter and now there is too much air!. The whole tank is full of tiny bubbles and looks horrible plus it is really noisy. Any tips to get the air flow right would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post,

Mark.

Hi and welcome. How about if you close the venturi and bring up the outflow tube of the filter so that it cascades into the tank from a small hight. That should cause enough surface aggitation to keep the fish happy.
