I had a velvet outbreak in my community tank recently that I have almost cleared up, all of the fish in there are free of symptoms apart from my solitary PolkaDot loach.

I did have two but one has sadly died, probably part of this outbreak.

The loach is flashing badly and has visible, tiny (and i mean tiny!) white specs visible on its body and fins. It looks too small to be Whitespot and no other fish has suffered like this. I've treated the tank with Protozin at half dose (sensitive fish present) but it does not seem to have touched the loach. It also appears to be 'thin' even though I have observed it eating.

Its also, oddly, seems to be trying to feed off other fish in the tank... like nibbling they're flanks much in the same way that it would forage amongst the substrate.

I'm considering doing another cycle of Protozin at half strength starting tommorow but was wondering if any had a better suggestion or advice.

Thanks Kindly

Mark

Keep treating the tank for another week and keep the lights off and the tank covered for that time too, velvet is a real SOB to get rid of and unless completely killed off will keep coming back. The spores are photosynthetic so to completely kill them you have to stop them from getting any light, that combined with the medications should do the trick.
