My swordtail has developed a gold colour over the upper part of his body and my bulldog plec has a gold shimmer with his skin looking like a butterfly's wing, as near as I can describe it....like soft shimmery scales, or like irridescent velvet. I take it these are the symptoms of velvet disease? None of the fish in my tank apart from the gouramis seem to be feeling too good, they're all slower and much more hesitant than they normally are.

Can anyone tell me the best medicine to get in the UK, and whether I should take the two fish out and treat separately, or treat the whole tank? I've seen a couple of spots of gold glitter on my mollies, so I have a bad feeling that the whole tank is going down with it.

I did a 30% water change yesterday, will daily water changes help, or should i leave the tank alone to avoid stressing the fish?

Any advice would be very gratefully received. :/

PS Ammonia is 0, Nitrite is 0, nitrate is less than 10ppm. PH is 7.5, KH is about 5, GH is about 16, temp is 26 degrees.
Tank is 4 foot by 1 foot by 15", planted.
Recently added pair dwarf gouramis and a small plec (Saturday), also added new lights at weekend - about 3.75W per gallon
Tank only had fish in for 3 weeks, been doing 30% water changes a week, was previously fishlessly cycled.

I know with velvet is you are supposed to not leave the lights on.I think you are supposed to treat with the same medicine as ich.

Something with malachite green/formalin mix would be a good bet, Quick cure, Contra Spot etc..

Wish somebody would of told me this, i bought anti-velvet and slime, interpet
and lost my black molly, perhaps if i would have tried this he'd still be around :(

Good luck anyway, looks like your doing everything right with the testing etc, keep up the good work, and it will pay dividends.
