Hi Folks

Just wondering if anybody knows what kind of fry you could expect from breeding a male veiltail red/cellophane butterfly with a black orchid plakat female? Will it be 50% veiltail and 50% plakat, or is one tail type more genetically dominant?

Thanks
Lee

it all depends on what the parent fish were bred from. i paired a male pk to a female vt last year and the young where a mixed bunch. all the males were VT and the females were mostley plakat, but with slightly longer fins.

aparently this cross should produce "round tails", slighlty longer finned versions of pk

It would really depend more on what the VTs parents were, as VTs tend to be 'mutts' in terms of genetics, with a couple possible traits in them.

Personally i steer clear of mixin unless its HM and SD or there is a real unusual colour that need the tail developing. But as blue betta said from VTxPK you should get round tail as the higher percentage with a couple of VTs - it doesn't always work out like this
