For the past few days, my male VT betta Vaylee has been acting really strange. He seems listless and bored, and has been clamping his fins alot. I have never seen him clamp his fins since I got him....

What could be the problem?

Fin clamping is usually a sign of him being unhappy. It looks like he's in your 100 gallon, correct? Maybe think about getting him his own tank. Also, what are your water parameters? Your tank could be too cold or him or the quality may not be to his liking.

the tank is currently at 79...as for parameters i cant test until tomorrow....ran out of supplies and have to go to the city!

How long have you had him?

Maybe the mollies are pestering him? They're probably more territorial now too since there are fry in there.. Just a thought?

Do one easy check - do the flashlight test on him to see if you see gold dust. If you see gold dustings, he has velvet. Just give that a try to rule that out.

no gold dusting...phew!

hes been in there for about two weeks......i havent seen the mollies pestering him, and the fry are in a flaoting breeding trap, but i think one of the mollies is pregnant again so that could be it......

im seriously considering putting him back inot the fish bowl....
