I was browsing the forums today, and came across a thread where some people recommended the vaseline trick for making your backgrounds stand out. Today I applied it to my 10 gallon, and when my dad saw it, we had to do his 30 gallon. Here are some before and after pictures.

oh wow! that looks great! so tell me, what did you do with the vaseline to make it look like that?

This is what I did. I cleaned the back glass really good with windex. Then I pretty much smeared vaseline on the back with my hand, and made sure to cover most of the spots. Then you take your background and stick it onto the vaseline, and using a debit or credit card, remove the access vaseline and air bubbles. It takes a little time, but it sure pays off. Kinda messy.. my hands are still slimey.. hehe

Wow your background really stands out! I want to add that middle plant isn't fully aquatic. (In the picture 2,3, and 4)

Hey, thanks for the props! It makes me feel good =) If that plant isin't aquatic, what else is it? I just picked it up a few days ago.. I thought it looked interesting. I was in with all the other plants at the lfs.

its a hous eplant i think cos i bought one and was told the same.

mine lasted a good few months in the tank but it never grew.

someone said it would go soggy but it never did.
