V2800 Skimmer Modification Needed

Ok so after owning this skimmer for a few weeks now in my opinion it just dont cut the mustard!!

Either i have the bubbles right at the VERY TOP of the cone which produces what i would call urine coloured water (wet skim i think this is called) this fills the cup very quickly like few hours max, Or i have it just in the cone inside the skimmer cup which produces practically no gunge.

I called into wharf aquatics yesterday and was looking at a deltec skimmer in action, this had thousands and thousands of bubbles in it was bright white where as mine is a pretty poor effort in my opinion.

Would it be worth upgrading the pump or something?

It also is very annoying when its turned up to have the water in the cone as the noise going through the outlet sounds like a running tap

Sounds like you just have it set up wrong.

Did you use the pump restrictor?

You need to adjuct this and the water level inside the skimmer so the bubbles come to about 1/3rd of the way up the cone. These are effected quite badly if the water level in your tank changes too much so regular top ups. Also if you have an air pump connect this to it aswel.
