V2 120 Nano Skimmer?

yes its pretty good

not sileny, but not particuallt loud

takes some getting used to fine twaeking but once you get the hang of it they are pretty good.

is it about as loud as a prizm skimmer?

last skimmer i had was very loud so would like a quieter one as its in my bedroom.

is it ok to turn it off on a night?

dont know...never owned a prizm

Shoud skim 24 hrs. Fish usually die at night if they are going to. Thats when u need the skimmer most of all

ok think i'll go for one of those. £49 a good price i think?

LFS have a cheap skimmer for £30 but i think i'll go for the V2

I have one. As Ben said, not silent but not overly loud, can be a pain to get dialed in right but does a good job once you do.

Price sounds about right but I would go for a second hand one personally (can buy mine if you want, I need to upgrade it :p ).

i nlike to buy new but out of interest what are you looking for it including postage?

I have the v2 nano skimmer on my nano and IMO it is a very good skimmer for the money. I have moded my skimmer also the little nipple where the air is taken in by the pump is where all the noise is generated from { to low down and the water slops over it making the thing gurgle like mad} so like tiggerissey has said you can add a 2inch piece of air tube to this to cure the problem or like me go one step further i drilled the nipple so the air line would go through it nice and tightly i then removed the short piece of air line from the pump to the nipple and replaced with a longer piece directly on to the pump and out through the new drilled hole it sticks up so it is level with the top of the collection cup. I run my bubbles so that when the cup is off the skimmer there just at the top of the collection collar and i mean just at the top {not spilling over} i get a medium to dry skim and empty only twice per week and as for how louder i can honestly say it runs at a whisper can’t fault it at all very good skimmer once the mod has been done

In this pic you can see I run the bubbles low down in the collection collar nice dark skim you can also see the air tube sticking out through the hole where the nipple use to be

In this pic you can see the air tube connected directly onto the pump..

In this pic you can see I have removed the small piece of black air tube from the pump to the nipple, I have then put a drill piece through where the nipple use to be { removing the nipple and leaving just a hole} make sure you don’t drill the hole to big you want to keep it a nice snug fit, you then push a long piece of new air tube through it { the tube should seal the outside of the hole if it is a nice snug fit, you then connect one end to the pump and cut the other end so it is well clear of the water line and that’s all there is to it { takes about 10 to 15 minutes to do but is well worth it, I found that when I had the 2 inch method pushed onto the nipple that every time I removed the cup to empty it I knocked the air line off :rolleyes: :crazy: so hence this drill out method :good: . Hope it is of some help to you sorry about the quality of pics {taken on my phone}
