Using micron cartridge 24/7?

I have a magnum canister filter for my 80 gallon, and I was wondering if there would be anything wrong with just using the micro cartridge 24/7? I don't much like using carbon, so I was thinking I could just take the filter floss that surrounds the carbon container and wrap it around the micron cartridge instead. Would this be ok?

The micron cartridge will clog up in a couple days and limit flow. If you don't mind cleaning it all the time the water will be crystal clear.

Sounds like an okay compromise to me
I can just clean it when I do water changes.
