I have got a 300L tank full of water atm, there aren't many fish in there, only 4 clown loaches. I got 3 Juwel str 600 backgrounds for my birthday yesterday to fit into my tank, but it allready has water in it. Can I put the glue on the boards and stick it to the tank with water in it? or do I have to drain all the water?

thanks for any help

You could use rocks in front to keep them in place else they might float off!

so it would be allright to do this without harming the fish, I really cant be bothered removing all that water. If I just stood and held each piece in place for a few minutes would that b allright?

to be clear, you can't use aquarium silicone under water, you need the surfaces to be dry for it to adhere, you're gonna end up with a nasty mess if you try it.

what people are suggesting is that you don't use silicone at all but wedge it in place with rocks etc so it's not actually stuck to the back of the tank

Hi
Just a thought, i'll be corrected if its not a good idea, but how about when you next do a 25-30% water change use the sealant at the top of the backgrounds only. The bottom of them can be slighlty buried in the substrate. Only thing is i dont know how long the sealant takes to go off so perhaps someone could confirm whether this would be ok or not???

Cheers

The 'black' type sealer works under water, if i remember correctly it's called GOLD LABEL pond & aquarium sealer (yellow tube), it's about double the price of normal sealer but well worth it. Be great to see your tank when your done :good:
