I have had 2 die this week 1 female betta and now 1 of my Panda Corys, my tanks been running since april and inhabited since july and ive only lost 4 fish so far but these 2 in one week have made me feel a bit low, i guess its just frustrating not knowing why or that they were ill......

Just wanted a place to feel sorry for myself!
:no:

What's you water readings?

Sorry for the loss of your fish.

do you test your water? what size is the tank? what other fish do you have in the tank?

Tank is 180L

Water Readings (as of last night after finding dead panda - tested with api freshwater liquid test kit)
Am = 0-0.25 (lower end towards 0)
Ni = 0
Na = <5

80% water change done a week today after discovery of dead female betta, 50% water change done weekly.

Inhabitants:
Glowlight tetra = 9
Kitty tetra = 5
Panda corys = now 5
Julli corys = 2
Female Betta = now 4
2 Zebra snails

Mixture of live and plastic plants.

The only thing i can think of is ive moved the couch nearer the tank and my kitten tries to attack the fish so he might have stressed them out too much...

I've got some sort of moss or mold on the bottem is it posible for a silver Molly to have a disease please HElP

Any amount of ammonia will harm fish,especially if its been prolonged...

Mold on the bottom of the tank won't help,do you do regular substrate cleaning?

Sorry for your losses :sad:

Are you sure you haven't got anything dead that you have forgotten about? Dead snail for example?

There is something wrong if you have any ammonia reading. Fish waste, uneaten food and decaying plant matter will all contribute to the level of ammonia in the tank , if this is the case then your tank cleaning is inadequate.Ammonia can cause damage at levels of only 0.1 ppm (which is below the level detected by many kits!).

Large water changes daily until your reading is back to zero , cut right down on feeding as waste and uneaten food will make it worse and weekly thorough substrate vacs of your tank should see things back to normal!

Yeh ive had some thing similer to you problem

When i had goldfish i lost 14 goldies 3/4 of my white clouds
2hillstreams and more!

I dont know what was wrong the water was fine ( first thing i checked) but they just died in one week so i gave up on goldies after that :(

Nothing extra dead in the tank as all my fish/snails are accounted for and after the first female died i emptied they whole tank and of its decorations and scrubbed everything.

The mould person was not me - i have no mould in my tank at all!

As for the ammonia thats probably from the food as they tend to waste more than they eat, the change in the test was barely noticable but i put 0-0.25 just incase.

So far no one else has passed away and all seem happy, i will up my water changes and continue to monitor.

Thanks for all your replies.
