Urgent Help Needed!

Hi.

Just checked my tank and realized the heater has a little bit poking out of the water (alot of water must have evaporated). i pushed a bit of it back in the water and it fizzed. On closer inspection it looks like plastic when you heat it and bend it (loads of little wrinkles). if i push it all the way in will it shatter?. So far i've turned off all the electricity to the tank and removed the fish.
Help will be appreciated

I would assume it would be fine. the sizzle being that the heater was hot but didnt have anything to heat until you pushed it back into the water?!?!? Since the fish are out why not try it just to be safe. If someone else can tell you more i would listen to them over me lol sorry just trying to give you something that is atleast what i would do.

Thanks for the advice, I did push it back in, it sizzled alot but didnt shatter. My fish are now back in and happy again

I would put your heater horizontal inside your tank rather the vertical which im guessin that's currently how you have it? ...will solve any further problems.

it is currently horrizontal, but near the surface of the water, i've now moved it further down
