Guys my mandarin is really sick!! Recently I've noticed what I thought was White fungus on his head. I've een treating him with fungus meds, as a dip for an hour every couple of days. I've done this for 3 weeks now and no improvement. Now I've realised it's not fungus, his skin is peeling off!
What's happened to him! Someone help, I can't find answers on google search!!!

Quick responses will be hugely appreciated!!!

Best photo I can get of him. He's only an inch in size, had him 6months and he eats very well! He eats frozen and I put a weekly supplement of copepods in.

Water parameters are :
Ph- 8.0
Amm - less than .25
No2 - 0
No3 - 0
Salt - .028 (I know this is a little high)
Temp - 79'
Kh - 15'd
Ca - 420

Ammonia burns? should be absolute zero at all times. Get a second ooinion on your ammonia test asap

The other fish are fine!! And ammonia's norm 0 but gone up recently to less than .25. I'll get it checked though. Anyone else got any ideas!!

He also looks very skinny i'm afraid  - I would most certainly stop dipping him, it will be causing a huge amount of stress and second getting the ammonia checked. Do you have any aggressive fish or inverts in the tank?

I have two emerald crabs, and cleaner shrimp.

I think he might be partially blind because he has trouble catching food, he misses the food about 10x before he gets some.

have you recently dosed your tank with anything? when water changing is all your salt totally dissolved? may be a caustic burn.

Thats normal behaviour for a Mandy i'm afraid - thats one reason why the feeding jar is a good idea

Is it? Thats really funny I thought he was blind or crazy!! I'll give the feeding jar a go and see how he gets on.

I have just started mixing my own salt! Its likely tht this may be the cause. I have been checking but maybe I'm not doing it right!! But saying that the White stuff has been around longer than me mixing, but I've never been able to see red before. :-( I hope he's ok. Would high salt levels affect him like that? I've got it down to .024 now but was at .030 for a while..

how long have you had him? and how long have you had the tank running?

also, what do you feed him?

I've had him 6 months, tank was only running for about 4 months before putting him in. Feed him brine shrimp, he eats frozen and live and every week I put in copepods that I breed in bottles, or buy on the Internet if I have a bad week.

We have a mandy at work that sounds similar to yours. Large white patches covering his body. We have him in a quarantine tank atm treating it as a bacterial infection. Coworker diagnosed it as that, but maybe of some help?

im starting to lean across to the usual problem with mandys, that he appears to be eating but isnt.
i have had various fish do this, blue cheek gobies, mandys and a dragon wrasse to name a few.

as for the white patch, i noticed a white patch on my niger trigger 3 days ago, it looked like a burn of some kind. i looked again last night and again today and it has completely gone. i dont see how as it was a proper raised up white area.
do you have any corals or nems that could sting him?

Off topic... but wanted to reply...

I suspect the problem isn't that they aren't eating, especially if you think they are. I think the problem is rather that these animals come from the wild, and many have worms or other internal parasites. Because of this, no matter how much they eat, they aren't going to gain any weight. Blue cheeks in particular are very vulnerable and I would recommended any type of sleeper goby to be de-wormed, I would actually recommend to de-worm ANY wild caught fish, but especially sleepers.

Well I have been treating him for fungus and bacteria with no difference. Well I don't know what to do! I Dnt have a quarantine tank and can't afford one!

I have a sabae (malu) anemone although its poss a mis-sold Ritteri anemone. Either way I do have one, but he doesn't ever go near it. Where do you work Nemo? (just out of curiosity)
