Hi All,

Before I start, Im not sure of recent water params as I cant get to my lfs now - about a week ago, they were all within desired ranges - nitrites 0 etc etc. Ive just replaced a faulty powerhead, and water turnover is fab.

Ive got 2 issues.

The first, is that this afternoon, my water is very cloudy so am starting to panic that I might be having a bacteria bloom...

Second, my temo is 25 - 26 degrees and I keep catching a cluster of mollies around the filter towards the top of the water - right next to where the heater is.

Can anyone give me any explanations or advice on what might be happening?

i guess ur going to need the readings...what I would do is to give them a water change while i wait to get the results although this may be unnecessary its not gonna harm the fish if u do the water changes right, right?

My mollies love to hang out where the flow is high in my tank, right next to the power head and around the top of the sponge filter. At 25C, the temperature is a little higher than I like for mollies but still within the normal range for them. As long as you are moving plenty of water and keeping it stirred up, you will have more than enough oxygen in the water for your fish. You really should get at least enough test equipment to test the pH, ammonia and nitrites. You can figure that if you have those and keep the poisons at zero, you can do a weekly change of 20 to 30% and not worry too much about nitrates. For your livebeaer tanks, you will want the pH at no less than 7.0 and it would be better in the 7.5 to 8.0 range.
