hi all, i have to transfer my shoal of Micro rasboras into a smaller tank. what filters have people tried that wont suck them up. i have tried putting coarse foam over the end of my HOB but it cant suck enough water through. I have a spare fluval 2+ but im unsure in they will get sucked up into that.

i dont have a spare external and plus its a small 20L tank.

any tips or filters that work well

What about one or two of these? http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/85297-super-simple-5-minute-sponge-filter/

When I use my 2+ for my endler tank I am going to silicone two squares of screen/mesh onto the intake on the inside of the intake housing. Voila... no ugly external modifications!

i have tried that before and they just get clogged after a day or two. its alot of hassle. they mesh goes brown and hardly lets and water through.

i might have to get some sponge type fry filter thing.

why not go with a sponge filter, you can make one or you can buy one for fairly cheap. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=21425
The only other thing you will need for the sponge filter is eithor a power head or an air pump.
