Update

My PH is 8 and i have hears this has some sort of affect on the ammonia being more potent. I will test again later today and carry out another 20% water change and test again in the morning. Is my tank cycling now though? GRJ :good:

Should i lay off putting any ammo lock in there or with the level rising do you think i should add some maybe? :hyper:

Most likely cycling, not sure how the ammo lock'll effect your cycle though so ca't say for sure...
Does ammo lock claim to remove ammonia or just prevent it escalating beyond a certain point?
Probably best avoiding its use and sticking to water changes as your main defence? Could get a few plants as well to help absorb the toxic build-up...

Hi, thanks for the advice. I think may have found someone to donate some filter media to me who lives locally. This will hopefully get me set up and the fish wont have to suffer any more stress. I have done a 30% water change this evening as when i tested the water earl;ier, the ammonia was still 1.0. I hope this donor comes through for me, then i can get on with enjoying my tank and watching the little fishies!!! Thanks again. GRJ. :good:

Hi, well thats it, i have been donated some filter media and gravel from someone i found on this forum. I have put the media in my filter and the gravel ontop of my gravel in the tank. Now i think i just have to wait for the bacteria to get to work. Allbeing well i should have a cycled tank very soon. Thanks for everyones advice. I will keep this thread updated with the progress. Thanks again.GRJ :good:
