Well, I had a topic running a couple of weeks ago voicing my concerns over high nitrates in my 250ltr fully planted discus tank. Most replies sighted over feeding and not enough water changes. I explained this wasn't the case ad I have high nitrates in my tap water. Installed my nitrate reactor despite slot of sceptical opinion, and promised an update. Well, happy to report its working very well. Tested last night. tank at 50 mg/ltr, water returning from reactor less than 20mg/ ltr. Tank was at 100mg/ltr so heading downwards nicely.

I would be interested in seeing some pictures of the nitrate reactor in action. :snap:

How easy is it to set up and maintain the reactor?
Oh, and glad to hear you're finally getting one over nitrate!

Thanks. Well, set up was very easy. It comes as a kit with a filter cartridge, seachem denitrate media, mounting bracket and circulation pump with 6mm tubing. £50 in total. No feeding this as the media hosts bacteria that become anaerobicat at it's core and "consume" the nitrate so to speak. I mounted mine in my cabinet below. I was a little concerned about a poor flow rate causing problems due to the head of water (700mm), but all is good.. The media supplied fills the canister perfectly, and the pump is very compact and tidy. I'm very pleased with the improvement in quality, as are the fish, definitely looking more vibrant. Can't post pics from my phone but will as soon as I get my hands on a laptop.

How's the reactor coming along? Still effectively controlling your nitrates?
