What do people think? Improvements Needed? I do intend to throw in loads more Vallis in there and some dwarf Sag.

Thanks Mate, Taken a while to get it here but finally making progress :good:

Seeing everyone and their nice planted tanks has given me a lot of ideas and inspiration. I am about to rescape my 40g, but planning on it has been difficult as it is a tall hex tank. I am also in the process of putting together a 55g malawi tank for the hubby.

Planted is so rewarding, It allows you to create the tank in your own personal way, and the fish love it. For a Hex tank, I think personally it would look really well with Tall Flowing Vallis, or Cabomba with some Ludwiggia in the mid ground, and some low level grasses in the front.

If your new to the planted tanks area, Have a look at the Planted Resource Section HERE For all you need to know to get started.

I currently run a Low Tech, No Co2, Minimal Ferts tank, and it does well, with good growth

I will definitely do some reading. Right now I am in the process of getting a piece of wood ready. I found a nice branched piece that is tall, and will almost go from top to bottom. I am also changing the gravel to sand. The cool thing about the wood that i am going to use is that it will open up the floor for the cories. I will be attaching moss and some plants to the wood when it is ready. I am trying to go easy on planting the floor or the tank because the cories. It will be lightly planted on the floor though. What kind of plants will do well being attached to wood? I loved how you had some of your wood pieces.

Java Fern and Anubias are my favourite species. There are different varieties of the anubias available, I tend to go for the larger leafed varieties. Java Fern is is great especially when new leaves appear, You will have 10-20 leaves growing off one Java Leaf so once you buy one set, you never need to purchase any more, especially if you look after them. Both though are slow growers in the low tech set up. There are other floating plant species too like Java Moss, Some Crypts as well can be attached if done right. Look at other planted tanks in the Members Aquariums section, see what they have, and ask them, im sure they won't mind telling you what they have :good:

That looks fantastic dude, be proud, stocking looks great too

Thanks Mate, Think Im Pretty much at my limit now, May try and add a carpeted area of Riccia in the front there

Oh I do look at the other tanks lol. I am simply stunned by the level of creativity that the more experienced hobbyists have. I am still fairly new in the hobby and thanks to this site, I am learning a lot and have been inspired a lot.
