personally i would steer clear of these kind chemicals, i'm sure they have band them for sale in LFS now??

There has been some good suggestions above, the lettuce one works as do assassin snails.

On the subject of snails... I too have noticed them multiplying in my new aquarium. Recently I've noticed some of the live plants having a small clear gel type with several small white dots inside. I'm guessing these are eggs but don't want to remove them yet until it's confirmed they are snail eggs as I have Tetras and wouldn't like to remove the eggs if they are theirs?

They sound like snail eggs to me.

I'm a huge fan of Assassin Snails, they did the trick for me.

I've got exactly the same problem with Ramshorn snails. I get them with a turkey baster then squeeze it into a nylon sieve so I don't waste the tank water. I then flush 'em down the loo - I'm worried now in case I cause some sort of plague doing that :hyper: .

My LFS will be getting some Assassin snails in soon but I've read that they breed like mad too so not sure what to do. Can anyone confirm this please?

I found a post on another form about assassin snails:

mod edit The info can be found on this forum
I too am looking to get them but I haven't been able to find a pet store in my area that has them in stock.

Ah that's a shame. Canada is pretty strict on outside livestock, flora and fauna entering the country as I remember. I was born and partly raised in Vancouver and I remember my mum saying when they crossed the border which they did often, they had to leave behind any plants, fruit or vegetables they'd picked up.

You bet they are. You have to have a permit saying you can bring the stuff into the country before you can even bring it in. Because apparently there are items that are banned...blah, blah and blah....anyhow. where are you now? out of curiosity.

It's a good thing they are watchful of non-indigenous species entering the country's natural eco-systems which can be disasterous, Australia is the strictest country of all on this, I think.

I'm in Leicestershire UK now, I still have dual nationality so maybe one day.. :)

That is true. Are they? I'm not sure either. I know they would be because the introduction of the dingo ect... however now getting off topic...
