Hello.

Recently a few of my female guppies gave birth. The fry are "roaming free" in the tank. This morning I noticed an odd looking baby fish in the tank. It is brown and slightly larger than the other fry (which are white/clear). Also it doesn't have a long tail like the guppy fry do.

Is it a guppy or is it possible that it came into the tank as an egg attached to some plant life...?

It'll be quite exciting to watch it grow into something!

Many thanks in advance.

I'm intrigued Sarah. Keep us posted as the odd fry develops or put up a clear picture and we may possibly be able to help identify it early. You are correct to suspect a plant transferring eggs into the tank. Many "egg scatterers" end up with fish eggs stuck to plants. Depending on the plant source, that could well be the source of an unidentified fish fry.

I get some dark grey ones in with my pink clearish babies. They just tend to be darker coloured guppies. But im not sure about a brown one. We shall have to wait and see.
