it is in the smallst of holes in a piece of live rock i bought today so far i have seen 4 legs sticking out so i grabbed a small pipette and touched it gentaly to see if it was alive and it went into a hole.
now the legs in length are about 1cm long and they sway in the current i think looking for food. it has tiny brissles on its legs also and its legs are a creamy whitish colour with a hint of green could any body identify this please

here is a pic of it

THe first is probably a brittle star and all you will see are the legs.

Second I don't know, try to get another pic for somebody else to id.

It is a black banded Brittle Star

You probably will only ever see the legs waving in the current

There are probably hundreds of them tbh

great little critters to have in your tank, some species grow large but the one you seem to have is like the ones Ive had which about 2" across. As said you probably have loads in your tank and I certainly wouldnt worry about them.

As for the 2nd pic, not really sure what we're focusing on?

Ben

yea I have some of those brittle starfish in my tank but I've seen them crawling around on the rocks before but I also have a mutant starfish with like 6 legs that has always been in the tank since I got the live rock but I don't know what it is. Dave
