Well I think I figured it out. I had a dwarf puffer with them, didn't even think about it til just nowthat I had found a partial corpse in my tank a day or two before it all started.
So in my book, case closed.

Does this mean that the corpse was leaking toxins that were deadly to your khuli's and cory's? Just wondering as I am still learning at this hobby and would be good to know

Puffer fish carry a toxin in their gal bladder. Most likely they scavenged the corpse and died because of it.

I did not know that.... well, I knew pufferfish had a toxin, just not where, nor that fish would eat the toxin - I thought fish knew what to stay away from.


BTW, is that the same toxin that is used in some Asian delicacies that causes the lips to tingle? Enough to feel the poison, but not enough to make you sick?

Not sure about the Asian delicacy.
But fish don't no better. Other fish will eat puffers if they can, some suffer ill affects others don't.
