So,
In my classic tank with my oscar ive had since december, i got two convicts from my freind who said that oscars and convicts go together.I wetn away for two days and came back with my plastic bell flipped over and eggs inside it.This was just this morning, so it couldnt have been laid for that long.I have had no experince with breeding, and dont know what to do when im going to have hundreds of convicts in my tank, i might tkae the babies when they hatch and use them as feeders?
ideas please.
thanks,
Dominic.

you could try to sell them, but besides that, i dont know.

Have you got another tank available?? If not the fry won't last with the Oscar! (unless they r lucky)
You could place a divider in to separate from Oscar. (Plastic sheet with holes pierced in)

+ You could try to sell/exchange for store credit once they grow a bit.

P.s; Once Convicts start to breed, they will produce new broods of 200+ every month or so> Be ready!

I'm guessing that if you've got an oscar and two convicts you've got a pretty big tank, but it's worth noting that the cons can be pretty protective of their eggs/fry and might give your oscar a bit of a run-around if he's too inquisitive.

I am thinking about moving one of the convicts to my other tank.
The female used to be in my freinds gourami tank (belive it or not!)
so im gonna try to put her in my gourami tank and see if she is okay , so i can stop there egg-fest.
i cant take care of 200+ convicts!!!

What kind of Gourami do you have in your tank?

Personally, I would just get rid of the eggs. Nature culls more fish then you could cull in a lifetime, not only that, but the first batch of babies isn't always a good one...

yeah most people can't sell the fry as most LFS won't take them. the at best you can use them as feeders, and actually if you don't want to keep them the best thing you can do right now is to get a bucket of bleach and scrub the object that they laid their eggs on in it making sure to remove the eggs and then giving it a good rinsing before returning it to the tank,

Just use them as feeders, no one will want to take the fry off you.

Well i moved the mother and her eggs into anothe 20 gallon tnak i have.
she seems to be fine but when i put the father in, she seemed to keep him away..
I looked at the eggs and figured out they are moving with little tails.
When do i feed them the fineley crushed flake food?
and why arent my convicts eating, could it be that the ywere just put in the new tank and they are sulking?
answers please!

It is probably,as you said, them sulking. Keep an eye on though, if they go without eating for more then a few days it could be something else.

Convicts won't need to be fed until they are free swimming. Once they are, feed them crushed flake and/or commercial fry food.

Just give them a chance to settle into their new tank, it's like you moving house but more stressful. They'll be fine. Fish can live for weeks without food so just feed them tomorrow.

the table that my 20 gal was standing on seemed a litte flimsy, so for safetey i moved them back into the oscar tank. they seem to like it more, and my oscar love the company, it seems instead of my oscar being a loner bully, hes just a big softy.Hes still not full grown, but i rember pics form when i first got him and wow lol hes grown alot.
Convicts are veryyy fun parents to watch.
thinking about growing a fry or two to adulthood just to see there offspring.
