Look at it this way Freshmike......Hes Guarding the big bubblenest in the sky....

Awww! :-( He was so adorable when he was healthy.. I hate when it looks like they'll be fine and than they just DIE. Don't stop keeping Bettas FM, it probably wasn't your fault.

Oh! chris im so sorry! :-( :-( :-( i agree with Sorrell !, "Just think though what kind of home you gave him and what he may have had. He was very well taken care of and loved. I mean look at this thread! "

Was he still looking better when he died, or did he start going downhill again. That's something I hate about fishkeeping...sometimes you can do everything right and still lose one. I'm really sorry. :(

His eye was getting better, but he was developing some cotton, wouldn't eat and couldn't really get to the surface for air....I ended up having to move him to a 2.5 bare tank with 3" of water to help him get to the top. I even sat there and used the end of one of my little nets to help him to the surface.................. :X

I really didn't know what else I could do.

I tell ya though, losing a betta is a whole lot different than losing a cichlid.

I noticed in this thread that some people were doing 75-90% water changes for the pop-eye Betta. Mine has pop-eye also. It just noticed it late last night (when all the stores are closed). I was able to run out to a 24-Hour Wal-Mart and pick up a bottle of Melafix. My fish started acting better after an hour. I also something does not look right with his mouth. When he swims into the side of the tank, red fleshy tissue comes off him upon contact with the side (he is red with some blue in color). I am now getting ready to go to my local pet store for Maracyn-Two and salt. Can a fish in this weaked state be netted for a 75-90% change? I would not think the extra stress would be good. Also any clue about the mouth thing? Any suggestions?

well from what i've read the marcyn that he used works much better than melafix it is als likely that you could achiev a similar effect with three or four %50 water changes :/ goodluck

I dont know if this is much help for you but....the same thing happend to my oscar, all i did was 20% daily water changes, it gone right down now, but its still a little white over his eye but nothing to what is was, i also keept adding salt when ever i did a water change.

Hope it helps.
