Uk Or Us Gallons?

When people talk about how many gallons their tanks are, is it normal to say it in UK gallons or US gallons?

e.g. the inch per gallon rule - is that a UK or US gallon?

That is why the rest of the world uses litres

I'm in the UK, but i always try to use litres because there can be too much confusion with gallons.

But which pint? Pints are the root of the problem. Imperial (there isn't really a "UK" unit) pints are 20 fluid ounces. US have them as 16.
