Hey guys uh...
I have noticed, that unlike most forums I have joined, you guys seem to ignore me and my advice...
No, I'm sorry if I sould pushy and stuff, I'm just asking...why?
Is it my age that puts you off?
I understand that I am young, but that is still no excuse to ignore what I have to say, right?

Look, I'm sorry...I just want to know why...
Thanks

thats horrible to hear and cant beleive that you feel that way on here I have found this forum to be soo helpful and any advice from anyone has always been welcomed. personally I have never given advice on here as im new to the hobby and i also cant say why you have been made to feel ignored but im sure its not on purpose or because of a specific reason.

Well seeing as you've only made 12 posts I wonder how many times you could have possibly been "ignored" - you haven't given anything much of a chance.

Also, I have seen you give some bad advice, when you say that bettas should be kept alone, that's rubbish. Looks like you've got a load of dwarf cichlids shoved in a 3L tank and I have no idea how you've fit 8 bettas in a divided 2 ft tank...

honestly , i havn't seen any of his posts but i think just give him a bit of a chance , but honestly ? 1 dwarf cichlid in a 5L is madness if u have a few in a 3L ..... well i just dont know what 2 say if thats true .

how old are you? im sure its not anyones intention to upset new members, however, i have read some of your advice and have to say its not the best, im sorry, hopefully you will gain more experience as you get older, also this is quite a fast moving forum, often threads or posts can quickly get pushed to page 2 or 3 and then overlooked, and the poster thinks they are being ignored, thats not the case, not intentionally anyway, this is in general a freindly forum with a wealth of experienced fish keepers, stick with us nothing is personal

When I read your post I thought surely not. This forum is so supportive and every new member is welcomed in a positive way.

Then I went to your profile.

"I have 7 male betta splendens, and one female.
They all share a two-foot, heated tank, divided by clear perspex.
I also have a small, three litre tank that is set up for dwarf cichlids.
Right now, I have a two inch Brichardi Cichlid, a pair of Ram cichlids, and a large, Koi Angelfish."

This is NOT acceptable. Please, if YOU want to take advise then return those fish, because it is simply cruel keeping them in those cramped conditions.

Also, in your intro you write this "I started out with a two foot tank, filled with guppies, mollies and two large goldfish." Again, absolutely not acceptable, goldfish are coldwater fish, you can't have them in a heated tank with guppies and mollies.

We will help you set up tanks with happy fish and help you keep them healthy, as we are a supportive forum, but you need to listen first and then later give advice. And it has nothing to do with your age, there are many younger members here who do their best for the fish they own and they listen and learn just as we older ones do.

And again, I have read your female betta advice and it is just not right. Females bettas can be kept in a sorority, but there are precautions to be taken (heavily planted tank, hiding places, all added at the same time). So, we are not ignoring you, but your advice was incorrect.

three litre cichlid tank. now this is have to see. Must be more fish than water in there.

I am new to this forum too, but have recieved good advice, and i hope i have gave some (although i am new to the fish keeping thing). I have found relys slower than i anticipated... but overall think all they guys and gals on here are great and love to share what they know with others... sensible questions get good answers...

Wonder what others think about my posts?

It's defo not your age as I myself am only 15 but you have not kept your tanks right... 3L isn't big enough for anything I'm afraid and 8 betta's in a 2ft tank? The most I aim for in my 2.5ft(30") tank is 6!

Now, I can give you some advice but what's to say you'll take it?

About your cichlids... Take them back please, they don't mix very well and need a bigger tank than that. Minimum of 3ft for the angelfish.

About your 2ft tank, please sell at least 2-4 of your betta's so your not cramping them so much... 2ft is 24", 24" divided by 8 is 3" for each betta... This is really not good for them and they must be very cramped and bored.
I myself have bred betta's and still have 2 babies from my first spawn, the male is in my 2.5ft with his father my Plakat male(divided of course) and the female is in my 3ft tank with my Angelfish, my pair of Ocellated Kribensis and my other 2 female betta's(I'm working on upping their numbers shortly)...

Now, like I said. I can give advice, but what's the guarantee you'll take it?
I just hope you see that nothing will work out well with how you've got your tanks set-up.

+1 Paradise<3,
People come here to get advice and learn more about their hobby of fish keeping from more experienced keepers.
But if you are mad because we will not take your advice, check your facts.
Your age has nothing to do with it, it's your experience. There are probably 14-year-olds on here who know more about fish than I do at 19.
I always check the profiles of people I get advice from to see if they are knowledgeable, and your profile speaks volumes about how you are not, that's why the forum appears to ignore your advice.
We don't call you out on your mistakes, we'll correct them and hope you learn from our experience.
You've opened yourself up to the above criticism, from myself and other members, please don't be offended.

If you don't like it, there's the virtual door, take a hike.

I myself am only 12, but ive very knowledgable because ive been in the hobby for 9 years and have had lots of experiance. To have angelfish, 35 gallons is the Minimum. Mine was 8 inches tall, 9 inches long. Big, aggessive fish. Brichardi are african cichlids that prefer to. E kept in groups. Rams need soft, 82 degree water thrive and color up properly. 3 liters isnt exceptable for 1 dwarf cichlid. Let alone 2, plus an african cichlid, and an angelfish. Please, i agree with everyone else, sell your cichlids or get them a bigger tank.

Nothing to do with age. Just to do with the quality of your advice.

ive never seen you post to be honest. but for someone who "gives good advice" as is "never listened to"

you havent been signed for for a month yet, thats like 4 posts a week for the past 3 weeks, there is a LOT of people on this forum and sometimes a lot of people comment on the same threads saying the exact same thing just in different ways. maybe your advice has been taken in and followed but they just havent thought about saying thank you.

but if the information on your profile is correct people arnt going to listen to your advice if you keep fish like that. 3 cichlids an a angel koi in a 3 litre tank? you MUST be trolling. thats just over HALF A GALLON for that many fish?

People will not ignore you because of your age, I'm 14 and people don't ignore me... There are even some users as young as 12 on here and everyone is treated equally :good:

I cant see how people can ignore you without looking for your age on a profile that i dont think many people go to look at.
