This may sound like a stupid question but I am getting another tank  which will go next to my 60L one, and was wondering if i can  plug both aquariums into the same plug socket?

Well you cant plug them in the same socket because 2 plugs wont fit

but you can buy a multi plug and use that.
I always go for multi plugs with surge protectors just to be on the safe side.

I have a multi plug which I use already, can I use another multi plug for my new tank and plug both multi plugs into sockets next to each other? sorry a bit confusing, hope you understand.

agree, a standard UK plug socket can handle up to 3000 watts (13amps) so a double socket is a total 6000 watts which will easily handle all the equipment for two tanks, unless you are using some seriously heavy duty stuff, simply add up the wattage of each piece kit and you find its only a few hundred watts if that, just dont plug one extension board into another although it can be done its not recommended.

Im running a tank on each plug socket with a Extension and circuit breaker on each.

ie:

60l - 50w Heater, Light + External Filter

7l 10w Heater + Airpump, 30l 25w Heater, LED Light filter, 35l 25w heater / Fluval 205 + Fluval Light

120l 100w Heater, Fluval 306 and two 15w Bulbs.

that sounds fine, no where near the limits, in fact your kettle probably draws more than all that put together

So I will set up my new bigger tank and see how things go. Anyone else use same double plug socket for 60L and 160L aquariums?

I have 2 HOB filters, 100w heater, air pump, and 2 bulbs running on mine and its fine. I have everything plugged into a surge protector, And i'm in the US. I do plan on setting up a 20g tank and using another surge protector and plug that into the same wall outlet ( as there are 2 sockets on each wall outlet ).
