Ok so alot of you are probably familar with my betta Twist that I saved from the lps. Well I think I am making some progress with him.
He has started to eat :) But I am unsure how much to feed him. So far in a span of acouple hours I have given him 4 betta bites to eat. He seems hungry as this is the first time hes eaten since I got him 4 days ago.
Is this to much or to little?
Hes currently on maracyn for his sickness - laying around, having trouble swimming, some white stuffon his body, not eating (well now he is).
Please let me know, Thanks ;)

EDIT - Here is a updated picture of Twist :

Good job nursing that little fella!
I currently have one of my guys in Maracyn for about 4 days now and today he's super spunky. Hopefully Twist will have as good a recovery.

As far as the pellets go, I give Hikari biogold and it's only 2-3 pellets per feeding and I feed twice a day usually.
I think betta bites are smaller so you should be ok but try not to overfeed. Bettas are piggies, they'll eat as much as you give them but if they eat too much they often get swim bladder disorder and that's not good.
A good rule of thumb to remember is that their stomachs are only as big as their eye. Not very big!

Good luck Twist!!!!

Ember - Thanks! I currently feed my other bettas twice a day with about 3-4 betta bites each. (Some will only eat 3 some eat 4)

Can I start feeding Twist like that too? I just dont want to over feed him since he hasent eaten in a while. I heard its not good to feed to much to a sick fish.. Thats why Im asking exactly how many betta bites and how many times a day to feed Twist. And if I should spread out his feeding like every couple of hours give him 1 pellet instead of all 4 in a short span twice a day.

Good luck on your little guy too! I hope Twist makes the same progress as your betta! :)

Hi!
Glad to hear you got him on some Maracyn. :)
I would still go easy on the food - even soak the pellets in dechlorinated water (I might have already told you this, so if I have, sorry!) for a good 5+ minutes before you drop them into his tank. That'll make it easier for him to digest them. A couple of pellets a day for the time being until he feels better should be plenty.

He looks a lot like mine that has the same problem yours does. Except my Flop has green iridescence all over his body and his fins. Same posture, too.

Your little Twist is looking pretty good, though. Very alert.

Bettamom - Im not sure if you told me to soak the pellets but I will for sure now. I dont want him to be constapated on top of everything else.

Kiarra - Good luck with your little guy too :) And its nice to hear my twist is looking alert :)

Good news -

Twist is now sometimes almost swimming properly! Before he couldnt support his back end, now its slighly higher than before :)

I just thought I would share my good news :*

That's how it goes with Flop, too. :)

In fact, I have photos of him in his poses. Had to dump him in a smaller tank to get them and stick him in my window, but it's Flop. You'll see what I mean.

Meet Flop...my little cripple.

Kiarra - Flop looks just like my Twist! Other than Twist is redder than your Flop. How long have you had Flop for? He looks like he is making great progress!

I've had Flop for a few weeks now. He almost made a complete recovery, but I was gone for all intents and purposes for a weekend, and, when I got a chance to look at him again, he had relapsed somewhat.

He actually has some green iridescence on his body and fins...other than that, he's bright red.

And he and Twist DO look an awful lot alike, don't they?

well now fop has a twin...but of course i kinda think my buddy/raphael and bettamomma's louis look alot alike lol

Yay!
How fabulous he's making progress!
These things take time but I think you will both have lap swimmers in no time. ;)

Great news about Twist (and Flop, too). A lot of times all these little guys need is clean water, a few meds and TLC. So glad he is doing so much better. :D

Thanks everyone for the postive thoughts :)
This morning he is flaring at the wall! LOL I know its a wall but this is good news! I can finally see his pretty fins! :D

I also would like to know that since he seems to be doing alot better can I add some more water to his tank and how much should I be feeding him now? He was getting 1 pellet every couple of hours.

Thanks

If he's not having trouble getting to the top for air, it would be fine to add more water for him. I'd go slow on increasing the food though. Not too much too fast. Maybe two pellets one feeding and then one for the next feeding. Don't want to cause him to have a relapse. :/
