Just bear in mind that programs like Fish Tank Kings and Tanked (whilst been seriously cringy programs that make me want to bash my head on the wall repeatedly whilst screaming the word "why" over and over again....)...
The tanks are very much set up for the tv program and not in the least realistic or even feasible to run and maintain. Some might be... but a lot arent! They are like the tanks are big aquatic shows (pointless imo!) like one recently had beautiful settup with about 20 electric blue rams... well thats hardly likely to run ok as a long term tank!
There was one episode on FTK i think that was a juke box turned into a completely unrealistic tank, it couldnt be any more than 180L running on a Fluval 205 external filter and had something like 40 odd marine fish in it! I know they emptied 2 clowns, 10 green chromis, 10 blue damsels, a flame angel, 8 fire fish and hogfish of some kind, a goby or two and so on...
Totally unrealistic which is a shame as the tank was really well made and a very cool idea! Shame they had to dramatise it so much to a point where it was ridiculous...
It implies to a lot of people that you can add fish into tanks any old how and no matter how many etc... its an interesting series but dangerous to new people in the hobby that dont know better!
That said... I could design tanks that look better
I will watch River Monsters and factual programs though
at least there is an ounce of truth in them and for a change, actually find I do learn stuff from them!! Especially the episode about Electric Eels which was fascinating
