When I was 5 I found a turtle that looked just like him(always heard he was a yellow eared pong slyder) at Lake Murray in South Carolina, when I found him he was the size of a dime, just as a warning mine died last year (I'm 26) and grew to be up to be a very large turtle(his shell was 7-8 inches long and about 5 inches wide). In the end My dad had to purchase a 75 gallon wide tank(not sure of the exact measurements) to keep him in. I would deffinetly do research to find out how large yours will be and what kind of enviroment you will need for them.
Good luck to you!
I always loved mine, he was a hearty sucker who didn't seem to mind going to school for show and tell(I was child then, so I could remember wrong) he also made it out to the lawn a couple times to run(not so slow) in the sun with us kids. (oh yeah and a finger biter!)
