Muz, the grandmother of some of my little guys, has developed several tumors. One tumor is on her back and has destroyed most of her dorsal fin. The tumor is covered by what looks like a white fungus or a hard white covering. This does not respond to any fungial medicines or anything else I have thought of. She's had it for a couple months now but it seems to be getting the best of her now. It does not spread. It stays just on that tumor. It doesn't jump to other fish. It just looks like fungus but is actually more of a hard covering. Of course, it started as a single tumor but now she's got one near her gill plate which I think is the one causing problems.

You should check out this link, it has a lot of pics on tumors and other things that can be mistaken for tumors on fish at the bottom;

Are you absolutely positive your fish has a tumor? Tumors aern't unfectious, but then again they are untreatable as far as i know.

I've had a few that developed tumors, none of them responded to any type treatments, and I am fairly certain that it is what ultimately short-lived their lives.

But as Tokis said, not much you can do for it, short of removing them..and they just end up coming back.

It's may not even be a true "tumor" but a type of cancer or maybe a cyst...and without removing the "root" of it or the use of chemotherapy (yeah right, can you see the looks you'd get for that request) to kill it...it's just going to come back.

Personally, I think once it's breached the skin's surface, the damage it's done inside the fish has already been done..after that happens, can really only wait it out and give the fish the best life it can have until it's time expires .
