Tubifex Worm

I know this may seems like an unusual question but can anybody help?

I recently went to feed my fish with some freeze dried tubifex but using an old half empty tub,on opening the tub discovered that the inside of the tub was amass with thousands of very small insect like animals (sort of oval in shape).Thia is not the first time i have experianced this as i tend to hoard fish food supplies.
Does anybody know anything about these..how they get in there in the first place...are they harmful to fish if digested etc just curious

if this is in freeze dried tub. then i wudnt defo not feed this to r fish anymore. and buy some new stuff, as this shouldnt of come with food.

best off with the frozen if you keep food for a long time
