Trying To Build A Tank With Odd/interesting Fish

the glass catfish need to be in small shoals or so ive heard

Yeah ive heard they have to live in shoals or theyll "die from loneliness"... I dont mind getting 4 or 5 though; they are interesting and different looking fish and thats what im going for.

Although I love the color of the dwarf neon blue rainbow fish, I dont think they would last too long in my tank since they only get up to 2" and the bichir will most likely eat them. So Im looking for other suggestions. Id like something colorful b.c currently all the fish i plan on getting are clear, brown, gray or black.

i have no clue how big or what type of tank you need or what fish there ok with but an albino oscar would stand out

yeah those are pretty cool but unfortunately theyre too agressive for my tank.

Not to mention a 30gallon is way too small for an oscar. Any idea of what your going to stock in the tank? Might be wrong but I remember hearing whiptails were extremely sensative and delicate, but that might have only been one type so I would research them before buying as well.

you could get a pair of pink guramis these can be big and there funny to watch as they actually kiss probably just fighting but look like kissing and there also called kissing fish obviously :good:

4-5 glass catfish
1 senegal bichir
1 upside down catfish
1 whiptail catfish
1 black ghost knife fish
then something(s) that is colorful

whiptail catfish from what ive read are sensitive to the water and are delicate when theyre small but will grow quickly and should be ok.
Do you have any experiance with whiptails?

IF i go with sand will the whiteness of the sand dull the colors of my fish?

i doubt it would just get it from the pet shop not from anywere thats selling it for gardens and stuff as it could be bleeched

BGK also get too big for a 30 gallon, so I wouldn't include one of them in the list. About the whiptail catfish, any idea which species you plan to get?

ive just heard that some fish are affected by the color of the gravel and the background of the tank. but if it really made too much of a difference in color people wouldnt use it

Still need suggestions for 2.5"+colorful fish :good:

darn i really like the bgf how it swims is really cool.

The whiptail i was thinking about getting is Rineloricaria fallax

honestly the only things i deff want to include are the bichir and glass cat fish, im flexible with the other catfish if you think theyre a bad idea.

how about a tank buster dont know how big these get probablt to big tbh.

Are you trying to be funny?

The term tankbuster is applied to fish which grow very large. Things like Arowanas, Red Tailed catfish, things like that.

Don't get a Black Ghost Knife fish you do not have space.
