can you keep a goldfish with tropical fish?

I'm not sure if you can or can't but why would you want to?

Tropical fish require warmer water than goldfish as these are a coldwater fish. I'm sure there has been a thread made recently about this if you try searching this site using google's advanced search.

:)

Basically, no.
Its not good for either of the fish - the warmer water will shorten the lifespan of the goldfish and the goldfishes mess (and they make a lot) will create poor water conditions for the others.

There are a lot of topics on this already - have a search.

However, if you reaad some of the goldfish websites (i.e., fancy goldfish) they mention temps that would be okay for *some* tropicals, the thing is goldfish create so much waste and will grow too large to get along with more peaceful ones that can handle the lower temps, the bigger tropicals may kill the goldfish, and tail nipping..... I think the only tropical I've heard of getting along with goldfish would be a bristlenose, as far as I am aware.

i know i probly shoul dnot have done this but i put i small black moor goldfish in my 25 gallon tropical tank. it has been in there for about 3/4 of a year and is doing fine. i have not had anyproblems with it.

Higher temperatures shorter a goldfishes lifespan. You're cutting it's life short I'm afraid.
