Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine

Nah, it's always been like this. The internet only lets us see it.
Sadly, that's the truth. When I was young, I was an optimist. I believed people were rational creatures, but they are not. I thought most problems were due to ignorance, which was due to a lack of access to education and acquired knowledge. In the early years of the Internet I was convinced it would usher in a golden age of intellectual creativity. It has done just the opposite.

Got the newest issue of Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine in the mail Monday . May / June 2024 # 766 . Great as usual and an article on Goodeids . A fish that is not often seen by most of us but is talked about frequently by @fish48 and @emeraldking . IMG_0900.jpegIMG_0899.jpeg

The September October 2024 issue # 768 just hit my mailbox today . Lots of good articles but the one I’m most interested in is Joshua Wiegert’s column Nano Tank Adventures . This issue’s title is “ Land Shrimp Ahoy ! Keeping Pet Isopods “ . These are , as he puts it , role-polies , pill bugs or sow bugs with their true name being woodlice . Zoo Med Laboratories has recently introduced a variety of products for this niche hobby so it must be taking off . Other interesting looking articles are “ Going With The Flow : Keeping Hillstream Loaches “ by Mike Hellweg and “ Breeding Freshwater Pipefish : The Skinny on Enneacampus ansorgii Cameroon “ by Rebecca Goldring . This months Aqua Design Amano layout is “Nature Aquarium : A West African Rainy Season Riverside Aquascape “ . Remember that Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine is a deal at $28 for a six issue yearly subscription .

I saw some freshwater pipefish in Gabon. Very very cool to find.
That must have been a nice surprise for you . Until this TFH article I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a freshwater pipefish . I read the article and breeding is almost exactly like seahorses . European breeders , according to the author , have been having success for some time but it’s still a difficult fish to keep as it requires live food in abundance and is still an expensive fish to buy .

I love it, worth every penny imo, thick paper, high quality printing, solid binding, not too cluttered with ads. excellent articles and subjects.

I use to leave my old ones in the waiting room at my dentist. And they where always getting stolen all the time. loll.

#767 has 20 more pages of Dicrossus and other marvelous Peacocks, also gave me a tickle for maybe a jelly-fish tank in the future.
