Hi Guys.
well tonight i have just manged to break two of my light tubes. anyway i am looking for a cheaper tube to replace them. the tubes where Interpet Triplus . so what i m looking for are some cheaper tubes that look like a Interpet Triplus/triton but cheaper. i just dont like any kind of yellow cast tube. i did find a few sites that sell tubes and i was wondering if any of you guys have used tubes like this. and if so what color do they give out.
Thanks All

Thanks for that Themuleous. have you tried any of them tubes ? do any of them look like triton's

Cant say I have, sorry. I have always like the Arcadia freshwater tubes.

i replaced a triplus with an arcadia original (in pets at home its called a classica tropical sunlight), the reds are just as good if not a little better that the triplus..

The tropical original isn't very good for plant growth though, the light spectrum isn't right.

according to Arcadia its perfect for plat growth, also the arc pod is designed for plant growth and that uses pl original bulb..

no doubt there better out there but they original poster is looking for a cheap alternative to the triplus and in my eyes the arcadia original fits the bill plus its easily found in pets at home ..

Yes. i have read the same about the tropical original. they do say there good for plants. what about Grolux Tubes ?

Thanks for the link George. but by the time you put the vat on them tubes they don't work out much cheaper than a Triplus tube. but the Gro Lux tubes on that site are cheap. but im not to sure how good Gro Lux are as they seem to have been around for ever. can anyone tell me what a Triplus Reflector Lamp is ? is this something new. it says it has ( Reflector technology provides 30%+ more light ) i don't think the last Triplus tube i had come with any built in Reflector.

:good:

Interpet now have built-in reflectors in their Tripus and Daylight tubes. I don't like them. In Juwel and Hagen ballasts they are 90 degrees off i.e. the light isn't directed downwards. I also question their effeciency.

I emailed Interpet about this and they have ignored me, on several occasions.

This may interest you.
