Hi I am new here and I have lots of questions as I am just starting out to care for Triops.
I have a 20 Gallon tank and the kit I got has its own tub/hatchery I read some people instantly put their Triop eggs into their tanks and dont use smaller containers which would be better to do?
If I used the small container when would it be safe to transport them to the bigger tank? I saw on Youtube that their shells only start to harden when they are about 15 days old.
And last for this first post Is it possible to feed them baby carrots as some people have said they would eat them?

triops!!!! man this is what got me into fish lol, im pre-warning you anyway...

yes it is possible to move triops into a larger tank, i got mine into a 32Litre!! but ive never been able to hatch any in water which is more then roughly 1 litre....the eggs just wouldnt hatch, i also found that the eggs would hatch at a nice warm temp...i think it was about 26 but i can barly remember! i feed mine carrots and he grew pretty large considering the size of the container he/she was in! they will try and eag anything you put in there lol but be carefull as you dont want to kill them, also watch out for decaying food...it WILL kill your triop! there is a guy, saltynay who did alot with triops, lets hope he spots this thread! good luck and keep us posted with pics!

p.s make sure you use spring water!!! or you eggs will not hatch!!

Yes I know they are extremely fragile with their environment.
I have found some water in my house which says Crystal Fresh Purified Water with added minerals but doesnt say what minerals are in it will it work?
Hope my questions get answerd soon but I really need to know when would be best to move them into the bigger tank I dont want to injure them.

have you already started them in a small breading tank? if yes then when they are about 1cm in size, heres a step by step on how i moved them to a bigger tank,

over a few hours,

get the new larger tank ready and setup, you can use normal tap water in this one, just use some declor in it of course! and make sure its the same temp!!

with the old tank, your going to want to take say 10 percent of the water away, add 10 percent from the larger tank, do this every half hour untill at least half is changed over

when you have done that you will want to use some kind of small clear tube to catch the triops in, when you have caught them float this in the new tank for 5 mins, this way any odd temps will adjust.

tip him/her into there new tank!

also with the spring water, ive used a number of different brands, so you may get away with any brand you may not, i honestly cannot answer that one, keep us updated!

Well I have not set them up but I want to be ready so I dont end up killing them...
Oh I also forgot which is best to use sand or small gravel?
I want them to lay eggs so I can continue on!

Thanks read it all sorry for being kinda late.. been so busy lately
So I read that I could use tap water in my 20g tank but first need to get the chlorine out so I was thinking of getting myself a dechlorinator but turns out after reading my filters box it "Absorbs undesirable chlorine and promotes growth of aerobic bacteria (gets rid of ammonia" so will i still need a dechlorinator? or would just setting up the filter and letting it run for awhile do?

I need help things were going good so far until 1 of the bigger triop died for no reason its only been 2 days and I only started feeding them, what did i do wrong?
The other one seems like its dying...

The other seem to have died as I cant find it anywhere...
Will it work if I moved the eggs into my 20gallon tank or they wont hatch?

They won't hatch unless it's less than a litre, because in the wild, it's just a small amount of water that triggers the hatching.. Or something like that! Apparently some might hatch in the larger tank - those would be the ones normally eaten if you had adults.
