So I bought a couple of bags each of the tescos and p@h sophisticat kitty litter after being a little peed off with sand, put it all in a huge tub and washed and soaked it over a few days then set about putting it in yesterday

That picture was after a hour or so and a water change. As you can see even though you wash it so many times it still remains dirty.

Woke up today and took a few pictures of the tank and it's inhabitants. These are phone pictures taken on the one x and there not that good it struggles with fluorescent light.

I recently lost my Nicaraguan, it managed to get stuck between a rock and the glass so I was gutted as it was one of if not my favourite fish. the fish i have replaced it with is a baby female salvini . This is trial and error really but with it being so much smaller than the rest I'm hoping it will grow up with its tank mates and behave itself.

Thankyou. hopefully she will behave and be a nice salvini, i think i may have to keep an eye on her and the ellioti cross breeding in the future though.

Awww gutted you lost the Nic :( I still have not found a replacement for Elsie :( So hard to find round here!

The Ellioti are looking excellent!!

Thanks guys.

Wills: yeah gutted I lost her, she was so placid but still had lots of personality, that blue and yellow colouring cannot be beaten either. She must of been spooked near the rocks and panicked and managed to get stuck. I will be getting a pair when upgrade come June or July there's no doubt about that it has left a big gap in my tank.

The elliotis are nice but since the nic has gone they seem to have extended there territory slightly, it's a good job my sevs are so placid they just ignore the flaring now.

Yeah that Red Neck is soooo nice!!!

I have a ring round a perimeter of shops every so often to try and find some but only seen them in Wharf recently and thats not exactly local, and they are the Nicaraguan race which have the black blotches on... Not too keen on them personally.

mmmmm with cichlids I like to go and pick them (especially if it were a Nic)

Sods law though just as Im moaning about them I spot an advert on AQ for one in Hull, possibly from a guy I gave some festivums too a while ago.

Fingers crossed perhaps :)

- I am anticipating that it is the female I rehomed to MA in Beverley that I got from Wharf that proved too fiesty for my tank....

Wills

Yeah I spotted that tonight fingers crossed for you. Ferrybridge had a couple of nics but couldn't confirm what sex over the phone. I actually went to pick your nic Up from MA the day after I lost my nic and it had been sold in the week. This was 3-4 weeks ago so if it is your old nic he won't have had it long. There is a lfs that can and will order you a group in and is fine providing you pick them up from the shop as soon as they arrive. I got my salvini and my group of elliotis from there.

Yeah I saw her in there after they opened again and was tempted to get her back because she looked like she had mellowed out but they are always different in the shop tanks.

Which LFS does the ordering? I asked MA once to try and order me some stuff in but so far as I know nothing ever happened :/ They might have tried but nothing came in...

Wills

The lfs is deep aquatics on Hessle road. Give him a ring, he has foreign suppliers that seem to be cheap, my elliotis was £3-4 each and salvini was £4.last time I popped in he had sajicas and rainbow cichlids for £3 each too and he also told me he could get ray pups for £45 each. As long as you pick the fish up before he introduces them too his tanks you will be fine. It's just like buying from a supplier really except you don't pay delivery and the owner of deep aquatics is your middleman.

Hi mate i wanted to get a Severums but got told they grow to big for a tank of that size ?

Edit: just noticed you have the trigon 190 and not the 350 so yes this would be far too small for any Severums.

Indeed they do ideally, you would get away with one adult, there not particularly active in comparison to other cichlids. im upgrading my tank in the next few months and have always had that plan that's why my stocking is what it is.
