Trickle Sumps Vs External Filters?

Hi, I've just been wondering what the pros and cons of trickle sumps vs external filters are.

For those that don't know what a trickle sump is like...Click HERE

I'd like some input please!

At this point, I'm kinda leaning towards the trickle sump!
That way I can keep the heater and filter hidden

well it depends on aquarium size really. i would go for a sump on anything over 150 gallons but under that i wouldn't say the cabinet is big enough to put a sump in it. Also i it depends if you have the know how on drilling a tank and sorting out the plumbing obviously externals are easier to set up and you get a guarantee and stuff like that. But on a budget or large tank i would go for a sump.
