well for AP euro we have to imagine we have 3,500$ to plan a trip to europe, we must visit 3 different countries and we have to include EVERYTHING ie, lodging, transport, food, activites, flights the whole shebang lol.

however we can have free lodgng if we stay with friends or family (max is 3 days) soooo as im planning this it would be quite fun to ask any of you UK ers if you would like to (pretendingly) take me in for a day to allow me to have $$ to do other stuff.

this is about the wierdest project for me as we have to preted we are 21 which means we can do ANYTHING within reason which does include partaying lol but i wont do that :shifty:

aso it would help if you guys know any awseomely cheap or cool places to go/stay whilst i plan this out

i also get extra credit for booking the cheapest flight (one girl almost bought the tickect  ) i have to beat 500$ lol

Accommodation ain't a thang, There are loads of Hostels available around Europe normally very very cheap like £10 a night or something. Flights once you get outside of America are not going to be expensive at all, and if they're you're doing it wrong or not using Public Transport.

I'd go single ticket to the uk, and single back from Spain or something.

That way you hit the uk first, tunnel to France, train to Spain and fly back from there.

And since it's pretend, have a night or 2 nr Oxford on the house. I got plenty of films to watch, some cheap beer in the fridge, a couple of fish, and a daughter to wake you up far too early.

yeah i was trying to plan a way to land in UK, hang there go to france do some stuff go up around through belgium netherlands and germany down prague sweden and austria down to italy (milan or florence maybe both :p ) cross back through france and leave through spain lol. the more place i go the more stable the grade scale is making it harder to drop down a grade, and i can stay more than 3 weeks but thats the minimum

and she did mention something about the hostels.. do you just pop in or are there conditions?

hahaha thanks for the offer :good: it depends where exactly is oxford? if it is in my travel line ill take up your offer lol ill need all the spare change i can keep if i cant find a cheap flight into and out of europe (a roundabout cost me almost 1.5 thousand  ) not to mention the conversions of moneys

Oxford is about an hour or so north north west of London.

If you wanted culture, it's home to one of the uk's oldest and most distinguished universities, which are also all pretty old buildings. Great if you're interested in old architecture (I'm more into modern or art deco).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford

that'll give you more on Oxford, plus if you google Oxford it'll give you it on google maps and show you lots of photos.

See if you can get a flight to the uk with Ryan air. Their flights are dirt cheap, but they pile on the extras charging for anything at all. Taking a suitcase? That's extra, want food on the flight? Extra. So cheap flights if you can pack light and only take basics.

Hostel are just essentially drop in accommodation which is designed for people who just want a few nights stay or so cheaply. The disadvantage of the price is that you will normally share with a lot of random people and they can be quite dangerous sometimes. But it all adds to the fun, and this is make believe :).

It's really not that bad, It's just good to be safe as your belongings are not always safe as you share accommodation. As long as you're staying in a half-decent neighbourhood you'd be fine.

I cannot stress enough that you utilize the European mass transit system (busses, trains, etc). For example.

Option A: Private taxi ride from Malpensa Airport (near Milan) to Dongo - 178 Euros

Option B: Malpensa Express train to Como (one change of train at Saronno) - about 10 Euros
Hydrofoil from Como to Dongo - 13,90 Euros and...
Option B was soooo much more fun!

There are hostels, and in addition, consider private homes. I rented a room in a villa (4 bedrooms, kitchen, bath) for 30 Euros a night. The economy is rough, many locals are renting out their places to travelers. Also, COOK FOR YOURSELF!!! I saved soooo much money by having a room with kitchen access and cooking my own meals. I cooked the meal below.

Yes, that was filet mignon. Purchased at the local grocery store. The meal at a restaurant, probably half the amount of steak too, would be about 25-30 Euros. The entire meal above was less than 7 Euros, and I had wine to drink! :D I ate out a few times too, but I cooked for myself most of the time and ate very well.

Be savy, do your research, have a per diem, and you'll do Europe on the cheap very successfully. My Italy trip was roughly the same budget as your trip, 3 weeks at Lago di Como and Milan, I was within your budget and that included the tuition for the voice program I was in. I had a marvelous time. You will too.

thanks for the info! i ill what i can do with the hostels vs. rent outs as it seems that i can save additional money by going for cheaper rents and cooking my own food.

wouldit also make sens to plan train rides so that i can sleep on the trains? that would save a few i would guess.

if only this wasnt pretend  lol

btw food looks delish

any other ideas?

No problem. This is a cool school project. Good luck.

You got burned with the flight. I wouldn't have flown in from Paris, but picked a less-touristy city and flown there. Tickets to Milan were selling for as little as $600 round trip from Miami in May! Just to let you know. If you buy a train pass it is easy to travel to the more known cities. If it were me, I would narrow your scope, as you only need three countries for your assignment. Pick three countries that are close together with a major, industrial airport hub, not a tourist airport hub. For example, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria are pretty close together and easily accessible by train. The major airport hub is the Malpensa airport (MPX) just outside Milan, known for being a more "industrial" city rather than a "tourist" city (though I found it stunning). Zurich is similar. You can save money this way and perhaps knock a few hundred off your fligh, so you won't be eating crackers and sleeping under bridges for your trip. You're going everywhere in Europe and going everywhere is rather expensive. Limit yourself. You'll also see more. Who wants to only spend a day in Italy. That is just silliness.

well, we HAVE to leave from LAX since we are in california and the latest we can leave is next month the 15th, and your right, i am going too many places ill take out spain and luxemborg, and im going to czech in real life so ig can take that out lol. i can survive on sandwhichs which i hope arent too expensive to make
soo would this be feasible? :

france
belgium
netherlands
germany
austria
italy
switzerland

I'm just using Miami as an example. It is the destination hub that is important. I still think you have too many countries. How long is the trip?Impossible to see anything with just a day or two in each country, especially a big one. I traveled in a very specific region for an extended period of time and still didn't see all that Lombardia that I could have. Just giving you food for thought. You don't want to cram so much in there that you spend the majority of your time traveling from place to place.
