Traumatic Homecoming

I brought home a new betta today (Finnely). I had him in the car (in his cup) while I ran into Petco. When I came back out his cup was tipped over and the water has all drained out (of course it was the blue treated water, all over my light tan car seat). So I took the lid off so I could put some of the water from the goldfish I bought in Petco in the cup, when I dropped the cup and Finnely went between the seat and door. AHHH!!! The poor fish finally made it home and is now in a 2 gallon with a pinch of aquarium salt (I've had problem with fungus and my bettas) and a little BettaFix. The top of his head is a little red (I'm worried about that), but he does move, and seems ok. I plan on doing a rather large (if not 100%) water change tomorrow.

What else can I do to make sure he makes it?

He is pretty sweet...while he was recooping in his cup, I would talk quietly to him and he'd come up to the top of the water. Already has a his own little personality.

Sounds like a trooper...I'm sure with a bit of your TLC he'll be perfectly fine

awww... most bettas are troopers, that one sounds so sweet I hope everything works out for you finnely

I just checked on little Finnley. He's been spending quite of bit of time at the bottom of his tank. He did come up to the surface though when i came over. I gave him a little food. He tried to eat the betta pellet, but oculdn't keep it down (that's really worrying me), and he just followed the bloodworm around, but never tried to eat it. I took the worm out, but left the pellet. I couldn't find it, but it could have gone to the bottom.

Checked him over real well with a flashlight...not seeing any fungus...yet.

If you're worried about him not eating, you could try holding the bloodworm right in front of his mouth with some tweezers. Even my sickest bettas did not refuse this.

He did notice the bloodworm, since he followed it down to the bottom of the tank, but then came back up to the surface, and never tried to eat it.

I think I'll try some daphnia tomorrow (or even some seaweed, my other bettas love the stuff).
