whats the best way to transport fish. i dont have any of those strong , thin, see-through bags they have in pet shops. could i use a tesco bag? i have sandwich bags, but there two small. i have some plastic boxes, but with the lids on will there be enough oxygen?

lol - I think tescos bags might leak :shifty:

Firstly - how far are they going ? How long will they be in there and how many ?

If you put too many in too small a container they can poision themselves from ammonia. Anything under an hour or 2 should be OK with only a few fish though.

A small plastic container is fine - its more the temp drop you need to think about, dont let it cool down, wrap the container in some towels or something.

Don't feed the fish for 24 hours before transporting, less food in means less waste out. Any fish safe container will work, consider a cooler to maintain temperature, I've seen plenty of large fish sold in the cheap styrofoam coolers at auctions. As long as you use 1/3 water, 2/3 air in a sealed container such as a fish bag, and fast for 24 hours before transport they will be fine for several hours.

I've bought & sold plenty of fish that have been bagged for 12+ hours, they have no problems as long as they are fasted & bagged properly. I've also had larger fish transported in coolers, you need to tape the lid down for larger fish, as they will jump & knock the lid off.
