I'm in a bit of a pickle and could use some advice.

I am cycling my tank, preparing for some Apisto Cacatuoides (3) and the ones I have selected are going to cost me a bit of money.
And so this is where the issue comes, I want to feed them the best possible food I can, with the least impact on my Wife. Growing and harvesting Brine Shrimp etc... might not go over well with her, and buying expensive frozen food at the LFS might be even worse.

Have any of you folks found a happy middle?

btw anyone who votes for the bottom 1 has sommat extreamly wrong with them and should not be allowed to keep fish in fear of mistreating them in unusual ways

The ammount i spend on fish always used to get me into trouble, the kinds of fish i like usually start at around £50 each and go up into the multiple hundreds. Luckily my mrs has recently got into geckos and has spent close to a grand on obtaining a few pairs of various sought after species so she cant really say much about it anymore.

Our electric bills are always a sore point but we are pretty much equally to blame for the high cost as we both keep animals which require tropical heating.

I'm lucky my hubby doesn't mind at all, he always jokes about me spending roughly £30 - £50 a week on the fish, he's obsessed with dvd's though so he gets loads of them. Not fair really as I love dvd's as well :) Anyway it's his fault, he started it all by buying me a fancy goldfish on my bday and I haven't looked back :) I think the only time he gets slightly miffed is when all of a sudden I decide to do a water change 20 mins before we're gonna have tea, instead of waiting until the evening LOL!

i was torn between the bottom choice or the attention to my tank in the end had to flip a coin LOL :shout:

I wouldn't be with anyone who complained at all about anytihng to do with my fishing or aquarium hobby.

I could see if I was excessive about and had 40 tanks but imo 5-7 tanks or less are fine.

It's what I enjoy in life so it's a priority for me.

Yes, but could someone please help me with my food problem!!!

Try a small pelletized food, Omega One maked a good vitamin enhanced pellet. My apistos eat these along with frozen bloodworms & brine shrimp. I get really small fry pellets for angels, apisto fry eat these as well once they size up a bit.

If you plan on breeding you will have to get a bbs hatchery going for the fry.

Happily, none of the above. :)

The entire family enjoys our tanks and we are planning a really big tank once the basement renovations are further along.
