As I sit in front of my tanks from time to time, I say silly little things or sing silly little things to my fish as I'm feeding, playing or water changing. I have thought of several of them, and just came up with the last one last night as I was watching Mermaid Man go.. well.. round and round thru his arch, and then again, and again, etc.
So, without further adue - here's my top ten list of lyric snippets that should be in songs about bettas.
10. "...round and round..." from Ratt's "Round and Round"
- explains the pattern of many bettas who go through their cave, arch, log, then repeat until eating or resting time, then go right back to as soon as eating or resting time is over.
9. "...louie louie..." from The Kingsmen's "Louie Louie"
- this pertains mostly to me, cuz I sing this to my blind little Louis when I'm feeding him
8. "...girls, girls, girls..." from Motley Crue's "Girls, Girls, Girls"
- female community tanks, need I say more!?
7. "...darling, it's better, down where it's wetter, take it from me..." from The Little Mermaid
- no explanation needed, really...
6. "...everybody wants to rule the world..." from Tears for Fears
- FULL on description of a female community tank as pecking order is being determined
5. "...We gotta get outta this place - if it's the last thing we ever do..." from Grand Funk Railroad
- what bettas sing day after day after day as they sit on a shelf at the store waiting for us!
4. "...my girl..." from The Temptations' "My Girl"
- for anyone who has ever had a girly betta that has been on the object of another male critter's affection
3. "...tiny bubbles..." from Don Ho's "Tiny Bubbles"
- for all the tiny little bubbles on their tanks, plants... THEM... after water changes
2. "...gotta keep 'em separated..." from Offspring's "Gotta Keep Em Separated"
- for obvious reasons
AND....
1. "...Mr. Big Stuff... Who do you think you are?" from Jean Knight's "Mr. Big Stuff"
- for obvious reasons.
