Has anyone had any experience with 'top filters' like this? I was thinking about one for bio filtration in my 2' that I am about to set up. It would be as well as a powerhead/sponge filter.

As far as I can see the water sprays over the media like a tiny wet dry filter but I am not too sure what they are like. I don't know how the water returns to the tank. Like a waterfall?

Thanks

Dylan

I use Aquaclear filters, which I think are very similar to that, only people call them 'hang-on' filters. They suck water up into the inside, passes through the changable filter media, than passes it back into the water like a little waterfall that makes small water currents. I have one in both my tanks and they are very nice filters. :)

Edit: Here's a link to the filter at Amazon. It shows a picture of one at work.

Thanks, I think these filters are similar in function to a hang on filter but the layout may be different. I am considering a HOB as well, but wat to take water from one end of the tank and return it in the other.

I have a feeling that some of the aquariums like aqua-one etc that have a built in hood with light and filter use this design. Does anyone have a filter in their hood?
