Just don't get any smaler fish than what the butterfly is that goes to the top, and when you put new fish in don't put them in at the top of the tank.

Also had some 1.5in tetra's in with with my butterfly fish and he didn't bother them. I would say go with it , but you never know.

I would stick with some Danios!!! they are energetic and easy and there is no guesing on how the fish will mix!!

Well i really like Marbled hatchet fish.

I have hatchet fish and I think they are really cool. I would have gotten the marble ones for exactly the same reason as you stated Silver, they look very similar to my silver dollars, however, my significant other really really wanted the silver hatchets so I readily agreed. The marbled will give you diversity in the color.

Danios are okay, but they do chase and nip the fins of my platys and mollies and once in awhile the dwarf gouramis. I kind of wish I went with neons instead of danios for the small schooling fish. Oh well.

im just not sure about the Butterflys because they need like 3" of air between the top of the water, and the cover. I dont want that, because it lowers the tank volume, and it looks bad. My water is only like 1 cm away from the cover, jsut enough for the fish to stick their mouths out of the water a little bit to eat. So im not sure, zebra danios dont look good, so not them. I might try to special order some Marbled Hatcheetfish, or if not, ill get a school of 6-8 Neons. Do neons swim at the top level??

Neons swim in the middle....They go up top to eat...but then alot of fish do. And in alot of cases the neons eat when the food falls to middle, but i have some hoggy Zebra's that dont let that happen so the neon's go up top to eat. Other than that I dotn know....

I had 3 Glass catfish in my tank, they were pretty cool. Didn't do much, but they looked really interesting.

Right now I have 13 neon's, which make 2 schools for some reason but!....they seem to stay near the ground or in the middle!! and almost never go to the top....even for food they ussualy wait till it drops to the middle..HTH

Well most likely but you could try it......Silver dollars dont have any color and neons would add color. but you will prolly get alot of no it wont work from other people on the forums. But I would try it.

Yeah. I dunno. I cant seem to find any marbled hatchetfish. I wanted some dwarf neon rainbows, but they are WAY too expensive ($9 each). i dunno. i wish those dwarf neon rainbows werent so expensive
