Top 10 Albums Of All Time.

Oh god... I don't think I'll be able to list a top 10. That's too difficult. I'll list my favorite 10 in no particular order.

Metallica - Ride the Lightning
The Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal
The Misfits - Walk Among Us
At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Howard Shore - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Soundtrack (The Complete Recordings)
Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies
Flogging Molly - Within A Mile Of Home
Eluveitie - Slania
The Misfits - Earth A.D.

Ugh, that was difficult. I'm debating this list. If you said my top 50 or more albums, that'd be soooooooooo much easier.

In no particular order...
1. Pig destroyer - prowler in the yard
lol, I find it ironic that one of your favorite albums is by a band that does not use a bass guitar.

I hold out hope that by some kind of magic they ask me to join, not that they would need it. They have a really thick sound without the bass...

I never really got into agoraphobic nosebleed, but a friend loved them.

I love the way with prowler in the yard I listened to it twice a day for a full year and I was still hearing new things. From little guitar runs, to details in the drums which you just don't hear to start with. That's why that album made it.

I'm shocked I didn't get the movielife - 40 hour train back to Penn into my top 10. That album always brings back great memories. We used to listen to it on the way home from all our shows. So when I hear it I always think of the shows I played in Birmingham, Manchester, Newbury, reading, London, Southampton, etc. But the best memory was playing at the forum in London followed by sub humans, then anti flag. Great memories.

Raised fist tend to bring back memories of that band too.

Ooh then [spunge] - room for abuse. That one makes me think about meeting them in reading when they played the fez club and I ended up getting wasted in their tourbus with one of my bands on their cd player.

In fact I may have to change my list to include the all time greats which bring up these memories.

Donots - pocketrock
Because it makes me think of college, and a girl who was one of my best friends who I really miss spending time with...

Very difficult decision to make. Although these are some of my favourite artists, my favourite songs by them aren't nessessarily on these. In no particular order:

Boards Of Canada - Campfire Headphones
65 Days of Static - The Destruction Of Small Ideas
Amon Tobin - Bricolage
The Cure - Galore
Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism
Godspeed! You Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
Gorillaz - Gorillaz
Mogwai Mr. Beast
Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
Radiohead - Pablohoney/The Bends (#39####!)

And no room for Red Sparrows or Muse..

I have to add that Eminem's album 'recovery' may well end up in my top 10 People dismiss this dude but his tunes are clever (have a real listen to 'the real slim shady :hey: ).

Hmm, in no particular order, albums that come to mind are...
  • Rumours: Fleetwood Mac
  • Greatest Hits (US Release): The Police
  • Out of Time: R.E.M.
  • Blood Suger Sex Magic: Red Hot Chilli Peppers (how much has this groups music changed since the days of "Under The Bridge" ?)
  • Comfort In Sound: Feeder
  • Invisible Touch: Genesis
  • Greatest Hits: The Eurythmics
  • History: Michael Jackson
  • The Bends: Radiohead
  • Final Straw: Snow Patrol
Having just listed the above, it really brought home to me how little I listen to my music collection these days at home! In my 20s (during the mid 90s), I could not be at home without having something playing in the background, while in these modern times I have Classic FM internet stream autostarting with Windows...

In no order:

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
The National - Bloodbuzz Ohio
Muse - Absolution
The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of the Understatement
Oasis (I really can't pick an album from them but they deserve a spot here xD)
Coldplay - X & Y
The Killers - Sam's Town
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
The Cure - Disintegration.

That was hard. And I didn't even order it lol.

edit: replaced autolux with the cure.

2- Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppers
9- Urban Hymms - Verve
10-OK Computer - Radiohead

Three fantastic albums.

crikey a shout for x and y a terrible album ~(IMO of course) from a band I love

The National someone lent me one of theirs the other day it was pretty good :good:

I'm so disappointed! No one listed one of the best rock albums of all time:

1. Meatloaf -- Bat out of Hell - 1977

In recent years I don't buy albums - just singles from iTunes, generally. But if you made me pick nine more actual albums I thought were great:

2. Billy Joel - The Stranger - 1977
3. Micheal Jackson - Thriller - 1982
4. The Eagles - Hotel California - 1976
5. Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill - 1996
6. Paula Cole - This Fire - 1996
7. Viva La Vida - Coldplay - 2008
8. Daughtry - Daughtry - 2006
9. Styx - Paradise Theater - 1981
10. Basia - Time and Tide - 1987

Oh goodness, I dont know how to choose, but Simon, I'm with you re: the Floyd and Dark side of the moon - absolute heaven and there would have to be a Led Zeppelin in there as well. I also have to admit to loving Jackson's Thriller  Oh what to choose, need to do some thinking

I don't get the hate for X & Y, imo it's a lot better than Viva La Vida (although I still like that too).

And yeah I love Bloodbuzz Ohio, probably my favorite album so far this year, although I'm still eagerly awaiting Interpol and Flamingo (Brandon Flowers), and rumors of another Coldplay.
