i just honestly dont see why someone would buy a fish they will eventually have to get rid of

who said i would be getting rid of them. My plan is to have another tank for them to go in to by the time they are that big. and if i dont, i will let my fiance's dad take them in his massive tank until i do.

Thats what i mean, people make presumptions without knowing any facts, and thats the part that annoyed me.

BlobOn, your tank looks good, and don't worry about people saying you're overstocked. You obviously have a plan!!
When I first got into fish, I joined another forum (won't say the name) and posted a question about a neon tetra I had that was having some problems. All I got was a barrage of abuse saying you're overstocked, you're a fish murderer, and all sorts of other crap!!! I've never posted on there again, and because of that, I found this site. People here will tell you you are overstocked, but only to make you aware if you weren't already. I've very rarely seen any abusive posts like the ones I got on the other forum.

Whenever you post on a forum you will get mixed responses, some good & some bad. Only you know how your fish are being kept and if they're healthy & happy. Take everyones opinions with a pinch of salt as that is all they are, opinions.
Sometimes it's a good idea to put a little note at the start of a post to let people know that you are aware of certain things, ie. stock levels, that way the focus is more on what you are posting about rather than other trivial matters
Remeber as well that some people are not as articulate typing as aposed to speaking (inc. me) and thereore can come across in a different way than intended.

Your tank looks great and your fish are very nice and i'm sure you'll do everything you can to keep them that way.

(P.S Don't let this thread put you off posting again, the more you post the better you'll get to know how the other members here type)

Don't worry blob, you are perfectly fine. that tank looks about 40-50 gallons, and the angels will be finein there even at full size. Eventually, but only after a couple of years of course, the balas will get too big. But you can always upgrade, as you said, or trade them in for other fish. you can pretty much ignore people on this forum who make comments like that and imply that you do not know what you are doing, when you have made it quite clear that you do and have given reasons for doing so. Keep it up; you're doing great!

Well, not everybody keeps just bettas and miniature fish. I don't know about everybody but if my LFS sold real baby sharks, I would keep them until they grew bigger. People should have whatever fish they want, as long as they're not stupid about keeping them in an undersized tank later on. My 2 cents.

I have a few new additions to my tank. I had to get rid of my albino shark as it was attacking my angels. Will probably get him back when i get a larger tank.

Anyway, I made a purchase last night of 2 electric yellows and 2 silver dollars.

I managed to snap some pics of the yellows with my phone.

Third: Just to let you know . . . sorry . . . silver dollars love to eat plants. Hope those are not real ones in your tank (though they look real)? The only plants silver dollars should be kept with is Java Fern, as it has a mild toxin that makes it taste bad. Also, african cichlids have a tendancy to re-arrange things in the tank while establishing their territory. This often means any plants in the tank get shredded. Basically, you have a lot of not-friendly-to-plants fish in your tank. Get some nice rocks and bogwood to give the tank a natural feel. Vertically arranged wood to simulate roots will make the silver dollars very happy, and will also give the angels places to hide.

Guess people just aren't that interested in 20 gallon community tanks with tiny fish and is under-stocked. Be happy you got some attention!

Angelfish need a 50 gallon, 24" high?

I'd disagree with that. I have an almost fully grown adult pair who spawn every 10 days in my 34G / 18" high planted community. I'd challenge anyone who observed these fish saying they weren't happy.

That's my opinion anyway
