what happens if a fish is meant to be kept in temps of around 23 but is kept at about 21?

can this have any long term afftects?

it is my 1gal betta tank. water is sitting at room temp of 21. just wondered if i need heater?

they have bene fine so far and not sure if there is a heater small enough

put them somewhere where its a little warmer? I think theyll be ok at 21 degrees. but not sure!

lol my betta just got the opposite - 30C, flaming heater on the blink...

[edit] meant to add, I think the betta should be ok at that temp, but no lower.

I wouldnt worry. My heater spazzed and heats my tank to be too warm. I havent had a heater for a while now and they're okay.( wont get one in the near future). Ive had entire tanks without heaters and the fish lived long lives.

My only concern would be that since its a small tank (mine are large) then make sure you keep an eye on the room temp... ie, open windows and such. naturally, a small body of water will change temperatures quickly!

ive improvised with a 100 watt bulb over it for 6 hours a day. has kept temp between 24-26 deg

yeah thats the low end of the temp. if i didnt use the bulb though, it would continue to drop in this house. the heating goes on when hell freezes over
